The pic above has absolutely nothing to do with anything, but it is nice to look at and has a sailboat in it, so I feel justified in keeping it here. Happy Holidays and you are welcome.
The Mariner over at SAILfeed has a hysterical video from the Chi Mac race this past year, while Bob Perry gives some insight into the birth of the Lafitte 44. Sailing Anarchy has a minor shit fight going regarding whether it is ok to ask if the sail you sold a client self destructed. It seemed clear cut to me, but then again I try not to be an uptight asshole. For a concise explanation of the event during the Sydney Hobart, check out Sail's story on it here.
The not quite finish of Leg 2 of the Volvo Ocean Race has finsihed at an undisclosed location, where they are now loading the boats onto a bigger boat, where people have big guns to protect the smaller boats from some pirates in still smaller boats. I am sure there are some grammatical failings in that last sentence, but I am not going to re-read it or correct it, since I got a little dizzy writing it the first time. In any case, depending on how you view it, Telefonica either won 80% of leg 2, or the race to the undisclosed location, which represents a portion of the actual leg 2. Minutes behind in second was Campers TNZ, and well behind in third Kenny Read in Puma Mar Mostro. I think it would have been easier to simply make this a leg, and add a leg to the race, but I am not a race promoter, and so must be ignorant to the wisdom in confusing your audience (not to mention participants, sponsors, etc).
